Time Perspectives: Part 1

This series of exercises will give you the opportunity to develop the ability to shift your perception from one time signature & tempo to another time signature and tempo in your mind without changing what you are doing physically on the instrument.  The coordination requirements with the limbs are minimal. It's all about the mind & your perception on this one. Enjoy!  MP3: [powr-music-player id=39b917c7_1506799674] PDF: [powr-file-embed id=30eda447_1506799441]

Rhythmic Melodies IA, #3, accents 1-8

The Rhythmic Melodies Section of The Foundational Series Book can be deceptively challenging. This course will help you navigate the material in full detail. You will be guided through each exercise with audio & video. These exercises develop: coordination endurance concentration focus consistency fluidity phrasing equal attention to both hands YOU ONLY NEED BASS DRUM & SNARE DRUM FOR THESE EXERCISES! (Believe me, you will be deeply challenged with only two instruments, and eventually, you can branch out to voicing the exercises creatively around the entire kit.) The bottom line is, any complex relationships require a deep understanding of what something sounds like, what it feels like to play, and also what it looks like written down. A polymeter is two or more meters happening at the same time. These meters share a common subdivision, so...

Groove Meditation 4.1, Exercises 1-12

The Groove Meditations are exercises designed to develop 4-way independence and muscle memory with patterns that start off fairly simple and grow in difficulty over the course of the series. There are several "levels" to approaching these exercises. Reading the exercises on the page, getting the coordination together Making it through the playalong completely without losing your place (for instance, this particular series is a 5-bar phrase repeated eight times) Committing the exercise to memory (this can prove quite challenging, especially for the exercises toward the end of the series) Being able to go from one to the next in the "Full Series" play-along"  *The Full Series play-along is a new feature that I will be introducing across the board with all...
