In March of 2007 I was invited to be a guest artist for the Elmhurst College Percussion Ensemble concert alongside Kris Myers from Umphrey's McGee and Glenn Kotche from Wilco. We played a handful of pieces together and each did a mini-clinic.
I decided that for this concert I would compose enough music to make a cd, and also make one of the songs on the cd a piece for the percussion ensemble to perform! The tune the ensemble performed is called Zhak Drinalin, and is the last song on the cd.
The compositions on this cd were the very first things I ever created using the DrumMantra concept of polymetric relationships and cyclical patterns. The music is fairly ambient and very meditative.
